Mariani, Haiti
Today was the sixth and final work day for the FUMC Waco team. They were focused and determined to get the roof on the house today. So it was action-packed! The trusses were set and secured, the perlins were laid out and fastened, and the metal roofing was attached.
Also, the stucco work inside the home was finished. All-in-all, the week went smoothly and much was accomplished. There is some more work to do on the house, which can be completed next week, but the plan that was outlined for the six days worked pretty well. We have captured several learning points to improve the process, and those will be shared with you in the near future. Mike Shaferly and crew also got the footers poured for house no. 3 today. The Sabetha team was supposed to arrive today, but ran into some weather delay. They should arrive tomorrow.
Celleste and his wife are certainly excited about their new home in Mariani, which is a bit of a distance away from where they are currently living in Port-au-Prince. Celleste was mentioning to us that he plans on starting a prayer and Bible study group, as there is not a church close by. At the end of the day, we had a dedication and prayer with the family, all the workers, Pastor Vitale and others from the church, and probably some neighbors and other folks who were hanging around. After that, the Waco team sponsored a meal for everyone, which was prepared by Madame Celleste and a few other women.
It was a blessing to work and become friends with the Waco team. They obviously have a passion for missions and the H4H project, and have a vision to build more homes in Haiti this year. It would be an honor to partner with them again in the near future!
God bless,
Tommy
